THE FLOW OF TIME emphasizes the essence of time in the form of an experience-oriented exhibition, consisting of an installation, “Approach to TIME.” and a motion picture, “Kizamu / Nagareru”. “Approach to TIME.” is a piece that represents the flow of time, with twelve acrylic objects, and a visual movie in the background that focuses on the flow of time in nature and in urban areas. Parts of the Spring Drive watch movement are sealed inside the objects. The parts will gradually be built within the object, and in the final twelfth object, the completed movement is moving its second hand smoothly. Its movement is the flow of time in nature itself. The movie piece “Kizamu / Nagareru” in the next area, represents the difference between the flowing time and ticking time more visually. The history of timepieces began by “ticking” the natural “movement” which has always been continuous. Time transformed from what used to “flow” to something that “ticks”, and timepieces were strived to have better performing “ticks”. On the other hand, the Spring Drive movement makes us feel the “flowing” of time, with its smooth motion of the second hand, maintaining the natural continuity.
