The 349-key Moxy Chelsea hotel features exquisite craftsmanship and unexpected details at every turn, from the ground floor Italian restaurant that feels like a secret spot off of a narrow side street in Rome, to the indoor-outdoor rooftop bar that celebrates views of the New York City skyline. Rockwell Group wanted to offer both a refuge from city life as well as a nod to the richness of the neighborhood with a lush interior landscape specific to the Flower Market. The Italian flair continues on the second floor Bar Feroce, a hub of activity that unfurls as a series of spaces that change with the rhythm of the day, designed to appeal equally to visitors and Chelsea residents. Two glass-enclosed studios seamlessly transition from meeting rooms during the day to lounge spaces in the evening with doors that fold away and custom tables that deconstruct to create credenzas and make room for plush, modular furniture. The Conservatory , draws inspiration from “The Little of Shop of Horrors,” and occupies the three-story glass atrium that spans the width of the hotel, sandwiched between a 20-foot-high green wall teeming with plants and greenhouse-style windows overlooking the heart of the Flower Market, providing a visual link back to the surrounding neighborhood. The space opens up into Bar Feroce’s Backyard, an all-season terrace with a terra cotta pizza oven and a custom-designed bocce game.
