"THE EYEVAN" is a specialty store that brings together all the brand labels of eyewear brand Ivan, which is based on the concept of "glasses to wear". The location chosen for the first store was Gion, Kyoto, where the good old Japanese culture still remains.

The design is a minimalist and dramatic expression of quality, respecting the traditions and textures of Kyoto and the atmosphere of the Gion machiya, Japanese traditional wooden townhouse. We expressed the design was a minimalist and dramatic of quality, respecting the traditions and textures of Kyoto and the atmosphere of the Gion machiya.

Conscious of wrapping the products, the interior incorporates soft curves to show straight lines and warm lighting to accentuate them. Also, a dynamic atrium has been created in the center of the store to allow the sales floors of the first and second floors to feel as one.

Then, a mobile that looks like a sculpture of Alexander Calder using a Kyoto fan by Hakuchikudo, a long-established manufacturer specializing in folding fans since Edo era in Japan, was placed to express the brand's worldview while creating a light and flamboyant atmosphere that evokes the fun of THE EYEVAN.

The exterior of the building is designed to match the streetscape of Gion, with a machiya design that does not detract from the landscape. In the town of Gion, which has developed globally while preserving Japanese traditions and fusing them with the modern world, "THE EYEVAN" is a space where the company EYEVAN's sense of craftsmanship is evident in every detail, using warm materials, and will be a place where the world-class excellence of Japanese eyeglass making is communicated.
