Our goal was to re-energize the design and set The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas apart from all other hotels on the Strip. Las Vegas is a theatrical town, so we wanted to keep that element, pushing the envelope, but making sure it was tasteful and not ostentatious. The artwork introduces concepts to guests as to what the hotel's slogan, "Just the Right Amount of Wrong" could mean, leaving them open to interpretation. Each image in the rooms represents a stage featuring a select set of players. Our firm employed numerous special techniques to bring edge and sophistication to the art pieces, which in turn elevated the room, giving them both depth and whimsy. For example, there is a photograph of a profile of a lovely woman that was brought to life using powder delicately printed on recycled corrugated craft paper creating a three-dimensional aspect to the art piece. Another piece incorporates blue velvet, a nod to the classic 1980s movie of the same name. It is a soft powder print charcoal drawing of a woman exercising with ribbon in a full and free expression of movement; guests can imagine themselves similarly. All the pieces were custom made and incorporate bold concepts. The colors used are subtle; we used a lot of jewel tones to evoke a sense of luxury. furniture is very sculptural and define the rooms. There is a canopy over the headboards for example, that has a damask pattern custom drawn that takes up the entire wall, creating a room within a room.
