In Busan which is the second largest city of South Korea, local and foreign visitors are increasing due to the formation of various tourist attractions, but the diversity of accommodation in the area is insufficient. The proportion of boutique hotels is quite small compared to five-star hotels in the area, and its characteristics seem unidentified.

“Jongkim design studio” focuses on strong visual design language in a sophisticated manner to drive visitors to have authentic hotel experiences to improve the local tourism market.

“Jongkim design studio” brought a new type of boutique hotel that does not follow the luxury as known as five-star chain hotels. It differentiates from nearby accommodations by providing new experiences at a reasonable price.

“The Coolest Hotel” has a bold concept based on keywords “Unconventional diversity, individuality and showing-off” as this hotel is targeting the young generation like the 20s to 30s. “Jongkim design studio” suggested “The Coolest Hotel” which provides space full of exclusive programs and services that will make people like to visit again.

“The Coolest Hotel” is a 12-storey building that combines 53 guest rooms including rooftop. The 1st floor is the main entrance of the hotel, 2nd floor is the lounge includes a reception desk and a cafe. The lounge has a panoramic ocean view through massive floor-to-ceiling windows. This reception lounge has a strong visual design impression that is harmonized with a variety of materials and colors such as floor by terracotta tile, red check pattern carpets, the wall by wood plus yellow paints, the ceiling by rattan, and custom-made furniture by blue color tiles.

There are five different types of guest rooms from the 3rd floor to the 12th floor. Every guest room has also a panoramic ocean view with randomly colored ceilings for each floor so the guests will experience quite a new space every time on their return even if they are allocated the same guestroom type.

There is an open-air pool and bar on the rooftop. When guests get off the elevator, they can see the long louver ceiling. It creates an ever-changing shadow pattern from day to night so visitors will experience different moods each time. The front side of the pool also panoramic ocean view as 2nd floor lounge but this time, with the sky.
