At KOKUYO's headquarters "THE CAMPUS," despite employee attendance returning to pre-pandemic levels, many staff members were observed working in isolation at their computers and participating in web meetings while physically present in the office. This highlighted a significant challenge: the office space wasn't facilitating the kind of human-centric working style that enables sharing of emotions and energy - essential elements for KOKUYO's vision of empathy and co-creation. To address this issue, two new areas were established: CREATION PLACE "BOXX" and HIVERARY, aiming to create an innovative office environment that balances workplace comfort with job satisfaction in the post-pandemic era.

The first floor's CREATION PLACE "BOXX" was established as a hub for fostering KOKUYO's distinctive creativity and collaborative engagement with society. This space features three distinct areas: a pop-up space for test marketing new products and conducting sustainability activities with local residents and workers; a residential co-creation space for workshops and brainstorming sessions with both internal and external partners; and a dedicated well-being space for relaxation and refreshment.

The second floor's HIVERARY was designed as a space where colleagues can draw inspiration from interactions and create outputs together. It's an evolution of the pre-pandemic "DIVERARY," which was originally designed for individual focus work. While maintaining its library-like atmosphere for inspiration, HIVERARY incorporates features that encourage human interaction, including "Tandem Rooms" for two-person collaborative work and "Solo Booths" - semi-open focused work areas for individuals.

The spaces are thoughtfully designed with CREATION PLACE "BOXX" accommodating teams of three or more, while HIVERARY caters to individual or pair work, allowing employees to freely choose spaces that suit their needs. To encourage collaboration, creative operational elements were implemented, such as a game where pairs can win drink tickets, creating unique office experiences.

The project also demonstrated strong commitment to environmental and social impact through several initiatives. In CREATION PLACE "BOXX," a "Zero Waste Construction" initiative achieved an impressive 96.2% recycling rate during renovation. The space features long tables made from recycled resin materials from their manufacturing plants, promoting awareness of circular economy principles among employees. Additionally, inclusively designed whiteboards were installed to enhance societal well-being. In HIVERARY, existing steel racks were repurposed with updated colors and configurations, maintaining design continuity while reducing waste. A post-renovation employee survey revealed that about half of the staff recognized the company's commitment to sustainability initiatives, including circular economy and D&I, indicating significant progress in raising environmental awareness among employees.
