The project entails a complete interior renovation of a former industrial building in the Navigli area, one of Milan’s most vibrant districts.
A space where different functions come together and become a unique experience related to food, events, shopping, co-working and creativity, designed to combine Japanese taste and Italian design. The aim was to achieve aesthetic continuity between all the spaces, above all through the use of the same basic materials: wood and metal, to guarantee a common thread not only of language, but also of flow and visibility of all the spaces in harmony with the former industrial environment that hosts them. The industrial soul transpires through the wide open-spaces, the shed roofs, the exposed systems, and the use of simple finishing materials and neon lighting.
The retail area’s identity is enhanced by the large windows overlooking tailor made exhibition elements, the greenery, and the ceiling’s neon lighting system. The materials mostly used are iron, also used to create independent structures, and cherry wood, chosen for its connection to the Japanese tradition. The floor is a welcoming but strong industrial parquet with shades of walnut wood or concrete.
