A historical porte cochère at the former DiLido Hotel will welcome guests to the new TATEL. A striking bar in a bell-jar-shaped room with floor-to-ceiling windows originally conceived by Morris Lapidus, who’s name is synonymous with the “Miami Modern” style of the 50s and 60s, will beckon guests upon arrival. STUDIO GRONDA has designed a circular-shaped, chrome-finished island bar. An oversized sculptural chandelier composed of more than one hundred lights rises above the bar like a sparkling cloud.

An intimate low-ceiling lounge connects the bar with the dining room. This connecting is features a ‘virtual window’ into a flamenco dance studio. STUDIO GRONDA commissioned a film director to capture a couple of dancers preparing for a rehearsal. The production is displayed in real human scale creating a voyeristic illusion into the Spanish national dance culture.

The double-height main dining room will accommodate 200 diners. Along its perimeter, guests maybe seated in raised booths or semi-private dining rooms, each of which will have their own window into the kitchen. An 80ft-long (almost 25m) digital skylight will crown the ceiling.
One again, the design studio commissioned a video-artist to capture underwater a couple swimming on a Mediterranean sea.

Video creates a subtle dialogue with two overscaled Joaquin Sorolla’s. ‘Seaseide stroll’ reproductions, usually utilizes subtte avant garden techniques to connect a culture with the current times.
