Located on the outskirts of the city of Forlì (Italy), Sidera is the name of the new CIA Conad Headquarters, where the precepts of neuroarchitecture have guided most of design choices, focusing on finding the ideal workspace in an Italian province. The project is a study of the human-centered architectural design, exploring how architectural innovation can effectively merge creative vision with functional requirements and environmental responsibility, laying the foundation for a new standard in workplace design.

Neuroscientific studies have shown that humans have a natural preference for open and bright spaces and that the surrounding environment can significantly influence our nervous system. This understanding led to a focus on four key elements known to positively impact the human brain: natural light, air quality, acoustics and visual connection with nature.

Light management is achieved through a glass skin envelope that allows controlled natural light penetration, creating bright, stimulating spaces. The artificial lighting system is designed to complement natural circadian rhythms, supporting occupants' biological cycles. Despite being located in one of Europe's most polluted areas, the building maintains exceptional indoor air quality through advanced ventilation systems and the elimination of operable windows.

Acoustic design received particular attention, with environments carefully engineered to minimize sound distraction and create spaces conducive to concentration and stress reduction. Nature connection is maintained throughout the building, as occupants can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding greenery from every interior space and level.

The building successfully accommodates six departments on single levels, with flexible office configurations. Additional facilities include a refectory with kitchen facilities and a 200-seat assembly hall. The large internal staircases act as an element of disruption for the entire layout, a living organism within the space. The circulation spaces and landing areas are informal meeting points, fostering collaboration and social moments among employees.

In a continuous flow of stimuli, the project highlights how the intelligence and creativity of those who work and create are nurtured by the curiosity and complexity of the environment, rather than the monotony of a sterile and shapeless space. Outside, the building's environmental impact is mitigated by the planting of 300 trees and 22,000 plants, creating a green buffer that helps neutralize the industrial context and a 1.2 MW photovoltaic system installed on the nearby company's warehouse covers the office building's energy consumption. Inside, the use of natural materials - wood, aluminum, and concrete in their natural states - reduces unnecessary finishing processes.

Sidera stands as a dynamic embodiment of CIA Conad's vision, exemplifying their commitment to employee well-being, environmental responsibility, and workplace excellence.
