This is a three-story sauna facility building in Shibuya where Japan's first Finnish sauna facility "Scandinavian Club" was once located over 50 years ago. This sauna is produced by Katsuki Tanaka who is the author of the manga and essay "Sado", which triggered the sauna boom in recent years. We planned a work space and restaurant on the 1st floor, 8 types of sauna rooms, 2 types of water baths and open-air rest space surrounded by greenery on the 2nd and 3rd floors.
Based on the concepts of "wellness" and "meditation," we have tried to create a clean and sophisticated design that is gentle on the body and allows for relaxation. For the overall finish and furniture, materials and details were selected with a sense of comfort in mind. We design focuses on "touch", such as the curved surface of the top plate and benches with large corners, the floor of soft and non-slip rubber chips, and the stone finish of the bathroom that changes the finishing method according to the part touches the skin.
In addition, by consistently designing furniture, signboards, soap holders and other small fixtures in the building, we have created a high-quality and extraordinary world view.
An urban oasis was born that liberates modern people, who are exposed to a lot of information, from the world of thought to the world of senses.
