This project, centered on the "temporal connection between interior and exterior," explores seamless dialogues between space and nature. Located in Shanghai's bustling Lujiazui, it leverages its prime office building location to blend the restaurant with urban and natural elements, creating a comfortable yet luxurious experience.

At the core of the Sheng Yongxing Lujiazui branch lies our commitment to innovation. We integrated state-of-the-art architectural techniques with ancient Chinese design philosophies, creating a space that transcends time. The restaurant's layout incorporates an open-concept courtyard, which is a reinterpretation of the traditional Chinese courtyard (Siheyuan), modernized to enhance the dining experience. This architectural innovation not only pays homage to our cultural roots but also serves as a breathable space within the urban fabric, providing a tranquil escape from the city's hustle and bustle.

Functionality was paramount in our design process. We meticulously planned every aspect of the space to cater to the dynamic needs of our patrons. From the strategic placement of the dining areas to ensure privacy and comfort, to the seamless flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces, every decision was made with the user experience in mind. The inclusion of tea rooms named after the four seasons, connected to the courtyard through a gallery, offers a versatile space for both private gatherings and communal dining, embodying the harmonious blend of privacy and social interaction.

Creativity flourished through the fusion of materials, light, and landscape. We employed bamboo, traditional Great Wall bricks, and translucent marble to craft a richly textured environment that is both elegant and simple. The play of light and shadow through the scroll-like French windows, alongside the reflections of the neon-lit Oriental Pearl, brings to life a dynamic painting that changes with the time of day and season, injecting life and movement into the static architectural forms.

Sustainability is woven into the fabric of our design. The integration of the courtyard and indoor space allows natural elements like light, air, and greenery to permeate the building, reducing the need for artificial lighting and ventilation. The use of locally sourced materials and traditional construction techniques not only minimizes the carbon footprint but also supports local craftsmanship and industries. Our dedication to sustainability extends to the dining experience itself, where the menu is designed around locally sourced, seasonal ingredients, reflecting our commitment to environmental stewardship and community support.

It is a space that invites diners to embark on a culinary journey that is deeply rooted in Chinese culture, yet forward-looking in its design and environmental ethos.
