“Seeing Sound” at Design Museum Holon Contains over 50 objects from the 1960s to the present is Divided into three categories - stationary, mobile, and interactive, featuring historical pieces that recount the evolution of stereo systems and speakers, as well as contemporary pieces that constitute furnishing accessories for the living room. Designer Tal Erez interpreted the curatorial concept of curators Anat Safran, Lila Chitayat and Elisabetta Pisu into a symmetric design that aims to carry the tactile invisibility of sound. expanding the idea of “Eye-level” used in the placement of objects into two new categories - “Ear-level” and “Hand-level”, he created three sensory stations: In “Ear-Level”, bluetooth speakers turn into an “orchestra”, where each speaker is assigned a role in an orchestrated 8-channel musical piece by Matan Daskal and the “Castle in Time Orchestra”. “Hand-Level” displays a 100 sqm pool of muted silicon strings, where visitors are welcome to touch and see the vibration of sound. The strings turn into a wall, sectioning the space vertically, separating the third part of the exhibition. “Eye-level” lays objects on lacquer coated raw steel sheet tables of different heights, stemming symmetrically from the pool. A 13 meter long table at the edge of the gallery creates a playground which welcome visitor interaction. The circulation creates a back and forth motion through a comparative story of how our relationship with sound objects has gradually changed.
