A time travel into the world of gigantic reptiles of past oceans. Sea reptiles are beyond the most fascinating and mysterious creatures of the mesozoic era. On 1.500 sqm Atelier Hammerl & Dannenberg stages the primeval water world with over 200 top-class original fossils, skeletons, casts and impressive 1:1 models up to 12 meter long of sea saurians. The originals come from the Senckenberg Nature Museum in Frankfurt and other renowned museums in Europe. The organically winding room modules guide the visitor through the exhibition and open up ever changing spatial impressions to the visitor. Like a second skin, a wave lies on the curved architecture, creating a flowing movement, statically “petrified”. The exhibition has numerous follow-up stations worldwide. For this reason, the architecture was planned in a very complex modular way. In spite of the organic form, the individual modules can be combined in any way and thus adapt to any room situation and any exhibition location. Europe’s largest digital and first real time “palaeoaquarium” creates a lasting spatial experience on over 50 square meters. Both the 3-D animated “main actors” and the 1:1 models of the primeval reptiles were specially developed for the exhibition on the basis of scientific knowledge. 20 media stations invite visitors to join in and playfully explain exciting and interesting facts about the life of the primeval sea giants and the history of the earth.
