Sanba stands for ‘Sociéty Anonyme de Navigation Belgo-Américain’.
The bar is located in the former luggage warehouse of the RED STAR LINE, a company that shipped thousands of European emigrants to the United States in the early years of the 20th century.

The interior is based on Brazilian brutalism.

The bar, playful tables, colorful accents and hand-crafted details lighten up the rough concrete space.
Plants and greens bring nature back inside.

You can find references to the architecture of Oscar Niemayer in the concrete construction of the bar and the slats that filter the lights above it.

The tables designed for this project are now part of the permanent furniture collection of SERAX. (www.serax.com) Later, a Sanba chair was added.

On regular days it function’s as a bar and co-working space open to the public.
In the evening and weekends it’s available for private and commercial events.
