Located in the city centre at Via Amedei 8 Milano, Salle Privée's showroom is housed in the well known Palazzo Recalcati, a sixteenth century building in Milan, historically belonging to the Sestiere of Porta Ticenese. The building still features the original historic interior, with the courtyard as the centrepiece of honor. For the concept and design of the House No 8, Salle Privée collaborated with Studio Sabine Marcelis to merge contemporary elements within the context of the historic environment. The design of the space revolves around extruding shapes from the existing central mirrored wall. Two additional walls were duplicated to take place on either end of the space. The void in the three walls was then taken as a new starting point, where plexiglass elements were extruded from, creating spacial elements which function as display objects and furniture. Their materiality juxtaposing the historical aesthetic of the existing space.
