The installation was created for the Milan Design Week, placed on Giuseppe Pero Gallery. The exhibition proposes a discovery of a personal experience room, where in the middle of a busy city like Milan the visitor can explore an uncommon but powerful scenario. A big box in the middle of the empty gallery invites the visitor to look inside by the door hole. The geometric black marble sculptures close to the box on the pedestal reinforces the curiosity and the sense of non-belonging. By opening the door, the visitor walk in into strong light environment that reveals this “urban cave”, where the staircase represents an archetype of the architecture and with it the idea of urbanization, making people question their own reality surrounded by buildings and pavement streets on the metropolis. A marble furniture collection made of 3 pieces is placed on the stairs respecting the steps shapes therefore integrated to the staircases in a way to transport the visitor into a place of estrangement, building a small geometric universe that manipulates visitor’s perception and their relationship with the surrounding space, which they can interact with. When coming outside of the room, the visitor realizes that the black marble pieces represents the negative parts created on the Carrara furniture by the staircase outline cuts, giving sense to how could those parts could exist outside of the staircase box. The dark marble used to fill the bases, brings the memory and the idea of belonging.
