RIGI HOUSE is RIGI’s experiment on innovative design studio and “terminal” design that a four-storey storefront building is transformed in downtown Shanghai. The first floor is a changeable complex space with different divisions like think tank, exhibition and salon, etc. Moreover, it can be reserved and open for visitors and serve as a part of the urban interface. The second and third floors are independent workplaces for designers and strategists according to stages involved in a design process, such as workshop, forum and life supply. And the founder’s office is set on the fourth floor, gathering all his passions for life and design. The overall space is designed and divided logically based on users’ behaviors and relationship between behaviors and objects, and all objects are encoded and classified into four types including LIFE, WORK, JOYFUL and GREEN. Meanwhile, logical arrangement and codes in turn affect users’ way of thinking and working styles. Interactions between spaces, people, objects and behaviors are integrated into an organic container that evolves gradually to explore the unknown.
