QUARTER SOUL is a local fragrance curator brand in Xi’an. In the design of the space, metal frames and natural linen curtains are used as partitions to divide the space into dynamic zones. The curtains, with their connotations of concealment and hiding in Chinese culture, echo the curtains in the diagnosis rooms of traditional Chinese medicine clinics, expressing the brand’s understanding of olfactory conduction: Fragrance arrives leisurely, appearing hidden and diffusing.

Tables and cabinets in the space are made of mottled stainless steel plates, providing a stable and solid base for fragrance products. The mottled texture and thinness of the stainless steel create a floating aroma. In the center of the space is a sink for hand cleaning, with water flowing from a suspended faucet through the ceiling into the sink. The faucet is secured by chains and woven ropes, symbolizing the flow and convergence of sensory experiences in the space. The sink is placed on top of irregular stone tables, forming the shape of a water source and mountain rocks.

In line with the brand’s story, a miniature and 3D printed version of the “Three-tiered Treasure Tripod Furnace” from Chinese religious culture is created. The three-tiered treasure tripod furnace symbolizes auspiciousness, exorcism, and the accumulation of blessings and wisdom. In Chinese culture, the tripod furnace is used to burn spices to express respect and pray for the gods. It transforms the fragrance product retail space into a scent temple, where urban nomadic artists seek olfactory sensory experiences in modern cities. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/vFsGgMpIiP4
