As I started to work on this project and began analysing the exterior, the house gave off such a charming vibe that it felt like something straight out of a fairytale. this Hansel and Gretel mystique in mind, the idea was to respect the captivating setting and create a true oasis based at the Belgian coast.
The phrase ‘home sweet home’ is quite fitting here because from the moment you open the door, you set foot in a world which submerges you with an enchanting feeling that keeps lingering. As silver was used as the base of the interior concept, I like to refer to the place as the ‘silver house’.
This colour is represented by all different kinds of materials that blend together seamlessly such as white gold leaves. aluminium, inox, mirrors,... Not only do materials of this color reflect the light they receive, they illuminate the house itself. We chose to completely transform the wooden floor into a metal silver surface, which immediately set the tone for the rest of the house.
A carved out bluestone with an art-deco pattern that accentuates the industrial inox kitchen countered by blue pastellone walls which complete the ground floor. We also wanted to create a vivid experience of colours with touches of bright and bold tones in the furniture all around. These colourful accents on the ground floor are extended to the other floors as well.
By using different colours and materials throughout the house, we wanted to create a unique home experience in each room. As if each space is a different chapter of a book, which has its own story to tell. And by walking through the house and turning the pages, this wonderful story unravels. I truly hope that you enjoy it as much as I do!
