In 2019, we were brought in to personalize the newly purchased Summerhill residence in Toronto. The initial impact of the main floor is a long wood-paneled corridor that connects the home from the front entry through to the beautiful back garden. We capitalized on this statement to create a custom sixty-foot long runner that ombres from dusty blush to burnt oranges. The colors in the runner were used to connect the adjoining rooms in similar tones. The front dining and living room pull from the soft blush hues of the runner and accented with creams and brasses. The family room in the back of the home draws from the burnt orange tones from the runner and finishes in coppery reds and soft greys. And in the basement piano bar, a custom floral-illustrated area rug acts as the perfect background to the client’s stunning, limited-edition Steinway and brass bar area. In the upper bedrooms, the Master suite is defined by a custom mustard yellow velvet Flexform Mood bed, while the son’s room is an ethereal experience with sunset ombre wallpaper and accents of iridescent Glas Italia mirrors and side tables. In addition to using color to define the spaces, furniture played an important role to balance the architecture - the soft curvatures of the selection of pieces (including Christophe Delcourt, Van Rossum, & Lindsey Edleman) were curated to balance the linear strength of the architecture. To finish off the spaces, it was important to the clients to feature their spectacular art collection (including pieces from Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, Keith Haring, and Banksy).
