INNOVATION:
The fusion of historical and contemporary elements presented an innovative challenge in itself. Preserving the 18th-century Baroque palace where the hotel is located, while injecting it with vibrant colours and eclectic furniture was our bold move to distinguish Palau Fugit Hotel and give its design a unique personality. Through this dynamic blend, we created unique and differentiated spaces that not only honour the past but also embrace the present, inviting visitors on a captivating journey through its different public, private, interior and exterior areas, all infused with a feminine touch in every detail.
FUNCTIONALITY:
The Hotel's public and F&B areas are organized around La Placeta, an open patio situated at the palace entrance, serving as a social hub welcoming the city of Girona. The strategic organization of the two main buildings housing a total of 25 rooms, the original "Palauet" and the modern "Pavelló", ensures functionality for contemporary travelers, offering two distinct room design styles. The pool terrace-garden serves as the private area's focal point, seamlessly linking these two structures. Each room tells a unique design narrative, featuring diverse relationships with its exterior spaces, such as small private terraces and gardens, while striking a balance between aesthetic allure and practical comfort.
CREATIVITY:
Creativity permeates every aspect of the hotel, from the reimagined sumptuous decor of “El Palauet” to the mid-century Mediterranean chic feel of “El Pavelló”. The use of local artists' original works, sculptures, wall murals, bespoke ceramic pieces, etc, showcases a clear artistic approach. The design narrative, inspired by Girona's history and culture, is brought to life through carefully curated details, creating a space that beckons exploration and enjoyment.
SUSTAINABILITY:
The preservation of the original architectural details aligns with a clear form of sustainable design, contributing to the conservation of historical landmarks not in use. Additionally, the collaboration with local artists, artisans and specialized construction companies supports the community and promotes sustainable practices. All materials used in the project have been locally selected and produced, from custom-designed ceramics tiles to the handmade terracotta breeze blocks.
