During the height of COVID restrictions in 2022 when most could not leave China, PAC STAR was conceived as an escape to the free and easy lifestyle of Los Angeles. Inspired by the sport and culture of Venice Beach, California, PAC STAR is a new type of entertainment venue that moves beyond the four walls of a traditional nightclub. At PAC STAR sport, music and street culture come together for day to night entertainment experiences.
Designed as a hub for daytime entertainment activities, the exterior and front of PAC STAR is a place for outdoor sport and dining. A basketball court set against a 47x17 meter mural on the exterior of the venue is a nod to the street basketball and graffiti of Venice Beach. Located at the entrance of PAC STAR, an open air gastro-pub inspired by the Venice Beach skatepark is a place where guests can watch sports on an 5x3 meter LED screen and enjoy West Coast-inspired food and beverages surrounded by striking gold palm trees.
Past the gastropub, the back of the venue is devoted to nighttime entertainment activities and includes a dance floor and six VIP rooms. The dance floor is the highlight of PAC STAR. Conceived as a basketball court surrounded by golden palm trees on the beach, LED lights on the floor and ceiling mimic the design language of a basketball court. The 3 meter high golden palm trees throughout the gastropub and dance floor are a signature element of PAC STAR that features palm fronds cut and bent by hand.
Continuing the theme of transporting guests to Los Angeles, each of the six VIP rooms were designed in the spirit of different areas of the city including Malibu, Compton, Palm Springs and Crypto Arena.
Sustainability was a key consideration throughout the design of PAC STAR. Stucco was utilized as a primary material for its natural ability to regulate humidity in spaces while being toxin-free. The design of the gastropub maximizes the use of natural light and natural ventilation in order to minimize energy use. While porous aluminum sound-absorbing panels in the VIP rooms are toxin-free and accommodating for sensitive guests.
