This is a plan for a shop specializing in sweets called "Yatsuhashi", a traditional souvenir from Kyoto.

Yatsuhashi used to be a standard souvenir from Kyoto, but with the emergence of new souvenirs over time, it is not well known among young people these days.
The client's request to us was to make Yatsuhashi a shop that many people would know.

The main ingredients of yatsuhashi are very simple: rice, water, red beans and cinnamon. We wanted to express that the client is making high-quality yatsuhashi with particular attention to raw materials.

First of all, in order to get people to know about Yatsuhashi, I kneaded nikki into the walls and floor of the sales floor and finished it with plastering. As a result, you can faintly feel the scent and texture of "Nikki".

For the ceiling, we arranged a traditional Japanese coffered ceiling into a triangular shape in the shape of Yatsuhashi, and combined it with LED lighting to create a contemporary design. The metal used everywhere, such as the grid on the counter, is made of copper, inspired by the copper pot used to simmer azuki beans. The materials that make up these spaces use natural wood, stone, and soil as much as possible, and are designed with long-term use in mind.

In addition, this store not only sells products, but you can also experience making Yatsuhashi by hand. The back room, where you can experience making yatsuhashi by hand and making matcha, has a low ceiling to resemble a modern tea room. In the courtyard, we designed an original stone tsukubai for purifying one's hands.

I believe that the store has become a place where the appeal of brands and products can be conveyed, not just as a place to buy souvenirs, but also by experiencing a space that expresses the feel of the materials of the products through original designs.
