What does the environment look like, in which we can work together optimally? This question was approached by Onlineprinters for their new headquarter in Fürth. The starting point was an elongated space divided into two fire compartments. However, being used to cell-offices, the transition to a large office space has not been considered to be very smooth. Therefore, it was necessary to develop a perceptible spatial structure that unites several departments with different needs; and that works as a connector and as a divider at the same time. The answer is: A space forming frame! It breaks the sight lines, and thus softens the effect of the open-space. With the possibility of hanging acoustic and writing panels, high-communication working-islands can also be separated from concentrated work areas without undermining the open-character. This zoning is also defined by the color gradients of the floor; in which it becomes lighter towards the middle zone ‘‘the market place”. Informal meeting rooms, telephone booths, and high-back sofas provide a recessed place for; small round agreements, undisturbed phone calls, or for conference calls. Rusted-red tones with complementary-green-nuances not only convey the CI colors; they also give a pleasant and cozy atmosphere. Any would work here with pleasure.
