Challenge: The aim of the project is to capture the spirit of the Tech Firm Isolutions in a physical space that meets the needs and expresses the vision of the Swiss company.

The clients were looking for a flexible office space with great physical comfort, which at the same time is a cool place, where the employees, who are free to choose between remote or on site working, want to go to the office - a fun and unique office space with work and social areas to interact with the rest of the colleagues. The design is based on placing the users in the centre of design, seeking above all their physical, psychological and emotional well-being.

In this sense a decisive point of the project was to generate spaces that would adapt to the changing needs of the users and the rapid growth of the company. The idea is to offer different types of spaces where, depending on the working conditions or mood, one can work in different areas and atmospheres, instead of offering fix assigned desks. To provide ergonomic workstations there are options to work sitting or standing, on office chairs, sofas or poufs. The coloured walls bathed in blue and green, create compatible backgrounds for online meetings, a warm and vivid atmosphere and give identity to the working space of Isolutions.

From the green meadows to the blue shore : The office space is organised in longitudinal strips, which are determined by the morphology of the building and its structural walls. These morphological pre-existences define the three landscapes that make up the project, each with its own materialisation, texture and colour:

The main entrance opens up into the dune area, the area that stretches across the three central strips. The dunes are materialised with a layer of perforated birch panels that absorb noise and at the same time form the pattern of the dunes. The wooden slats in the ceiling mark the different working areas. The wood provides a warm and pleasant ambience to this part of the office, which requires artificial lighting.

From the central dunes, we move towards the seashore. The corridor, with small closed meeting rooms, already shows us the blue horizon, which, with openings and windows, communicates with the open working space, bathed entirely in blue. This area is occupied by the "formal" work space, with mostly height-adjustable work tables. We have arrived in Barcelona, on the Mediterranean Sea.

On the opposite side, the dunes lead us to green meadows, the social and informal work area, we end up in the green landscape of Switzerland. This area offers several different environments that support social interaction: the agora for meetings, workshops and as a lounge area, lunch tables, the coffee corner and a gallery full of plants, bathed in natural light and with a view of the city of Barcelona.

From the meadow, through the dunes, one reaches the sea – a metaphorical translation of the Swiss firm landing at the shore of Barcelona.
