The main concept and colorscheme is Lack of color, the name of the project is NCS palette color shade as a reflection of the concept, as physically lack of color is impossible, yet we tried to achieve it though multiple methods. Brief for this project was short and quite peculiar, the only reference by the client was: "an image of cigarette smoke dissolving in the air big city air" Given was pretty abstract, but it was clear that the interior was meant to be cinematic and minimalistic, yet aesthetic.
Location of the given space at the high floor of a skyscraper in the business district of Moscow City provided us with a spacious view of the cityscape framed with panoramic glass surfaces. Considering that we carefully chose the finish materials for the interior that could embody the image of the big city air; The office is supposed to be occupied by the three different departments of the firm, we used light grey glass block walls to separate them, it provided the entire space with sharp graphical structure and enhanced the light penetration and intensified play of reflections. The rest of the surfaces including raw technical communications of the ceiling were coated with sand textured paint in grey shades to achieve a uniform matt look, acoustic micro-concrete was used for the floor.
Most elements are custom made after our designs such as: shelves, partiton details, reception desk are made of oxidized, blued raw steel, tables and sanitary equipment are cast o/o concrete . Furniture used in the project varies from formal business classics in the internal work rooms to soft and elegant yet minimalistic objects of the reception area. Last but not least, the question of lighting was crucial: a wide variety of lightning systems were integrated into the interior in order to provide a multitude of light scenarios.
