Text by Frame: Off-White’s Ginza store is a menswear boutique that continues what founder Virgil Abloh refers to as the brand’s ‘warehouse minimalism’ style.
A collaboration between Abloh and a team of New York architects – James Wines of Site, and Suzan Wines and Azin Valy of I-Beam – the recent addition to luxury shopping centre Ginza Six in Tokyo therefore feels deliberately unfinished, a façade of half-stacked brick walls clinging to metal wire frameworks.
The construction-site aesthetic continues inside, albeit with a touch of well-crafted branding thanks to bricks printed with protruding or recessed Off-White logos. A more subtle nod to the brand is the colour of the interior itself: off-white, naturally.
