Meyer Davis reimagined a 17th-century stable that once belonged to the Dragones, the legendary cavalry who ignited Mexico’s Independence movement in 1810, into a newly-designed showroom known as The Obsidian Bar.
The Obsidian Bar is crafted out of obsidian sourced from the brand’s agave fields in Tequila, Mexico, this intentional choice not only captures the intrinsic essence of the land but also pays homage to the cultural heritage of Mexico and San Miguel de Allende. The city, renowned for its exquisite craftsmanship and traditional artistry, finds reflection in the carefully fashioned obsidian. This mysterious stone from Casa Dragones’ agave fields represents that rebellious and adventurous spirit of Casa Dragones and has become synonymous with the tequila.
The use of beautifully raw materials, but refined in their own way, speaks to the way Casa Dragones celebrates the inherent qualities of the agave. Meyer Davis created a design that celebrates the materiality in the same way that Casa Dragones refines their spirit. The deliberate selection of materials, including brass accents, wooden floors, and grey granite countertops, contributes to an elevated ambiance, infusing the space with an air of sophistication.
As one ventures further into the courtyard, the cohesive connection between spaces becomes apparent, with the carefully curated materials extending seamlessly. To deepen the connection with the spirit of the region, the bar features an elegantly elongated shelf system, meticulously designed to showcase the finest tequila. This element not only serves a functional purpose but also becomes an integral part of the overall design narrative. Guests are invited to immerse themselves in the property's rich history while indulging in ultra premium tequila—a sensory experience that transcends the ordinary.
