As an installation on an inner-city industrial site, the FABIAN FREYTAG STUDIO was commissioned in January 2017 to create a pavilion that will be rented out for private events. In the design process, we played with the Garden of Eden as a paradise in the big city and repeatedly landed with Christian symbols. The idea did not let us off, based on Las Vegas to tell a story of something that takes place only in the minds of the viewer. Thematically, we have created a hybrid, between the expressionist brick architecture that should take up as the basis of the port theme and the interpretation of a chapel. This consists of two parts and dissolves to the entrance in a steel skeleton. The perceived building is a place of longing and awakens ideas in the eye of the beholder. Since the property may be used only as an intermediate use, it was also about the project degradable to construct. So the first initial booking requests for weddings came by mail, the name was clear: Oberhafenkapelle.
