There is something captivating about Rubik’s Cube. And this is what inspires Unite Unit in conceiving NODI Coffee Run with its multifaceted coloured surfaces and connotation of limitlessness.

NODI, literally meaning knot in Latin, is devoted to transforming each of its branches into an intimate community that encourages bonding between people. “We believe it’s the human connection that makes a social coffee space possible,” says NODI’s representative about the brand’s guiding principle. “It’s important to reflect this metaphoric symbol in all our outposts – bringing coffee and people together like knots connecting lines and ropes.”

From there, we have taken the client’s brief and chosen a colour scheme for the grab-and-go outpost that is dramatic, combined with the endless fascination inspired by the 3D combination puzzle originally known as Magic Cube.

The coffee corner employs a bright red colour theme that subtly balances off the dark tones of the materials such as red concrete, chrome metal, black steel structures and black tiles to evoke feelings of cosiness and comfort. The backlit logo is surrounded by a meticulously made shelving system that communicates NODI’s key message with delicate knot structures. A petit pastry display case is playfully placed against the black counter for an added dimension.

Despite space limitation, with an existing huge column taken more than half of the façade, instead of hiding it, we make use of it to create an indescribably intimate ambience fills the interior with a sense of togetherness. It aligns with the intent of the design studio to bring to life the connection between people and their surroundings, favouring the quality of space over its size and tailoring a rewarding journey for all.
