Spatial Concept has redefined the workspace experience with the interior design of New World Development HQ2, an 80,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Cheung Sha Wan, Hong Kong. This transformative office consolidates departments within an interconnected, collaborative environment inspired by the company's Artisanal Movement—a philosophy merging art, craftsmanship, and sustainability to shape spaces that foster innovation, creativity, and well-being. The design interprets a contemporary siheyuan (Chinese courtyard home), reinforcing community and connection through its spatial planning. An L-shaped staircase vertically links floors, encouraging spontaneous collaboration while integrating tiered seating for town hall meetings. Open layouts, adaptive meeting areas, and flexible spaces enhance work dynamics, ensuring efficiency and fluid interaction.

Artistic ingenuity is embedded throughout, with a granite reception desk, sculptural stair balustrades, and bespoke furnishings reflecting New World Development’s artisanal DNA. Natural light is maximized, with private offices positioned near the building core to grant workbenches optimal views. Custom wall sconces, inspired by Chinese lanterns, and recessed lighting enhance ambiance. A serene courtyard concept featuring a shallow water pool inspired and regional granite elements instils tranquillity and inspiration.

The project exemplifies sustainable and environmentally responsible design, integrating locally sourced materials, FSC-certified wood, and low-VOC finishes to minimize environmental impact. The use of durable, reclaimed materials ensures longevity while reducing waste. A commitment to reducing plastic and foam usage aligns with eco-conscious practices, while integrated acoustic solutions enhance workplace comfort. Daylight optimization further supports employee well-being and energy efficiency, creating a balanced and health-focused work environment. HQ2 is currently in pursuit of LEED and BEAM Plus sustainability certifications, reinforcing its commitment to environmental excellence.

By merging artisanal craftsmanship, sustainable practices, and human-centric design, Spatial Concept has future-proofed New World Development HQ2—a workspace that empowers creativity, enhances well-being, and champions sustainability for generations to come.
