In order to retain their market leadership and continue competing with global players, PULS used the opportunity of changing their premises for a complete modernization and digitalization of the company. This transformation included two crucial elements: a) introducing a new social collaboration platform – a tool for more agile, transparent and dynamic knowledge sharing and internal communication and b) designing a completely new workplace environment. To ensure efficient knowledge rotation among employees, the entire company culture had to change from ‘island of lonely workers’ to the ‘network community’, which is where the new workplace concept played a particularly important role. It was developed around a concept of a small village, which brings together different teams. Technical and manufacturing specialists are now closely connected with departments such as HR, sales & marketing, and even the company management. These departments are now located in distinct neighbourhoods, with individual colours and strong graphic concepts defining each space. Neighbourhoods are connected by communal spaces for collaborative working. These range from a central amphitheatre and a café to both formal and informal meeting spaces: lounges, coffee points, meeting pods and creative rooms – in which to connect and exchange ideas. Based on staff feedback, the client made a decision to go against the global trend and keep individual desks for each staff member – their village home.
