Zuidas is Amsterdam’s financial district – a neatly mapped zone of skyscraper office blocks and apartments as well as a growing number of landmark buildings – that has recently become home to a pioneering bunch of expats and locals.

This Townhouse is in the hart of Amsterdam Financial district. The facades offer protection against the immense highrise all around. At the heart of the stucture is a spiral staircase that swirls down from the roof to the ground floor like a cascading piece of silk, that links all the spaces together and facilitates a visual game between introvert and extrovert spaces for the surrounding as within the home itself.

The use of terracotta, oak doors and frames, together with the minimalist detailled plints and negative ceiling detailing, gives this project the multiple layers it needs to feel as a comfortable family house. The razor sharpe lines of the staircase are combined with soft edges in giant opening that strikes you when you enter the townhouse. these mix use of materials, textures and shapes makes that the spectator keeps discovering
