This project was commissioned to celebrate the relaunch of Shiseido’s makeup collection. Drawing on concepts at the heart of Japanese culture as well as Shiseido’s long history of innovation, an immersive pop-up installation was created at TOLOT in Tokyo, Japan.
The pop-up combined a minimalistic yet refined environment with interactive digital technology to bring to life the concepts behind the new collection’s reimagined textures - Inks, Gels, Powders and Dews - through four unique multi-sensory rooms.
The pop-up invited guests to experience four unique multi-sensory rooms inspired by each of the reimagined textures from the collection.
In the “Powders" room, bubbles and fog light up the stage area. Cushy smoke rises into the air invoking the feeling of light powder on the skin. “Inks”, meanwhile featured swaying fabric hung around the display space that could be illuminated with a pen-like device enabling each guest to create their own ink-esque graphic.
“Gels” created an ambient space with an image of red gel projected around the display space. When guests sat on the gel-like bench in the room, sound was used to conjure a feeling of comfort and relaxation.
In the last room, “Dews”, innumerable lights shine down and intertwine with the melody of music designed to express dance-like movements and facial embellishments.
