This spring, the highly anticipated National Museum of Qatar in Doha opened its doors to the public. The ‘Desert Rose’, designed by award-winning French Atelier Jean Nouvel, celebrates the rich Qatar history, it’s heritage and culture through an immersive museum experience. Together, OPERA Amsterdam and Studio Louter developed the concept and design for the permanent family exhibits. Alongside the 1.5 kilometres long meandering exhibition, six appealing areas for families with children were created. Sheltered spaces where families can rest and play, just like a lush riverbank. Here, the story of Qatar comes to life in an exciting, innovative and immersive environment that appeals to a multi-generational audience. Creating a mesmerising and yet educational space, the family exhibits are an unforgettable visitor experience in and of itself.
With decades of practice in creating unforgettable visitor experiences, the National Museum of Qatar knew OPERA Amsterdam and Studio Louter were the perfect match to do the job. Also two other Dutch design studios were involved in the production of the Family Exhibits: Kiss The Frog & Shosho.
