OBJECTIVES The remarkable heritage of National Geographic inspired the organization’s office design. Known for its stunning photographs and rich history of exploration, the work space features historic and contemporary photography and geography from across the planet. Like National Geographic itself, the LEED Gold space is designed to be timeless, authentic, and adaptable. DESIGN Each floor of the office highlights a different latitude. We follow this geographic ring around the globe "traveling," for example, from the Himalayas (at one end of the office floor), past the Bahamas and Cairo before "arriving" at India's Taj Mahal (in another corner). The geographic theme carries throughout the space, rising from below sea level in the basement to Mount Everest on the 7th floor, the highest in the building. FEATURES -Elevator banks are a memorable gateway to each floor, showing visitors their location on a latitude; - Desks, private call rooms, hallways, stairwells, and even the gym are accented with National Geographic photography and compelling texts; - Meeting rooms juxtapose the work of new and historic National Geographic grantees; - Inspirational quotes related to the mission of the organization, inspire staff and visitors; - Furniture, walls and carpeting echo the brand with subtle grays and white accented with National Geographic yellow and teal for contrast; - Use of the brand’s yellow rectangle marks shared spaces like meeting and phone rooms.
