Draga&Aurel step into Visionnaire’s Wunderkammer with an intertwined narrative: a play of role exchanges between art and design, where the power of colors and painterly gestures illuminates the walls, guiding the immersive journey among collectible design objects.
“I have worked for a long time as a textile designer in fashion, and textiles are my first love-it was natural to imagine bringing Aurel’s works, so powerful and kinetic in force, onto fabric,” says Draga Obradovic.
In a special edition, the Aries armchair is upholstered in a novel loom-made fabric that reinterprets Aurel K. Basedow’s paintings. In the Muse room divider, Aurel’s painting is composed and decomposed: the layering, dear to the artist in his creative process, is entrusted to a play of printed organzas that in movement seem to reproduce the gesture of painting.
Research is a fundamental aspect of the creative journey for Draga & Aurel who, for this project, revisit two of their iconic pieces with new material compositions. The Lego console table comes now with a marble top combined with metal, while the Elysium table, an explicit reference to Amos, offers contrasting geometries and refined text res. Completing the installation is the Tessa separé: a cascade of colors that seem to dissolve amidst interweaving geometries, lights and transparencies.
