A bold architectural statement accommodates a new office concept grounded in technology. Our office, fluid and open, is adventurous and outward looking. It’s a place where you can work and relax, a place to be inspired. Sharp, stylish and offering plenty of original angles: our new office building is a bit like us. Which is not surprising, as it’s also our new headquarters. As well as being a 3D calling card for our firm, our innovative black building is a one-off that embodies a cutting-edge smart office concept. Modern technologies and insights into sustainability and health are causing a number of major and lasting changes in the design of our work environment. Instead of a physical work environment where you go to work at fixed times, we believe, the office of the future is a place where you meet your colleagues, which contributes to the productivity and well-being of the employees. From the realization that these employees are the real capital of the organization, the use of HR policy changes from accommodation to facilitation and stimulation. The health and happiness of the people is paramount. Everything revolves around the user experience and offering a pleasant and healthy working environment with room for relaxation and creativity. Technology plays an increasingly important role in this and ICT is more integrated into our work processes. Not only when it comes to working remotely, but also embedded in the design of our offices. ICT functions as the backbone of the modern working environment. MVSA's new HQ in the Houthavens of Amsterdam is a test case or laboratory where we test and monitor these new developments. The office recently received the Well Core V2 Platinum label. The best health, IT and climate developers worked together to develop the office. The building is awarded smartest building 2020 by the Futureproof Awards because the system integrates ICT, climate installation, lighting and building facilities: a creative working environment in which the user can tailor the environment to his or her individual wishes or state of mind. This starts with the entrance that opens by means of facial recognition, where the employee's temperature is also monitored. A visualization can be seen on the large LED wall in the entrance hall, which matches the atmosphere and the moment. When you meet in the 360 boardroom, it looks like you are discussing on a mountain top. In the interior, a clear distinction has been made between the concentration areas and relaxation areas. In the workplace you will find adaptive lighting that contributes to the concentration and productivity of the employees. Sensors in lighting fixtures continuously measure the air and light quality in the building, so that it can be adapted to the circumstances. In MVSA’s office on the second floor, the core of the building features a glass wall backed by foil and illuminated by coloured lights. The colour can be changed with the touch of a button. This weightless solution forms the luminous heart of our office, the place where visitors can admire our architectural models as they experience our architecture in real life. Thanks to the level of detail and attention for the use of absorbent materials, users of the office get the same "wow" effect when they enter the room as with the silence that prevails when a city is covered with freshly fallen snow. For example, the ceilings are made of alusion, a unique material made of recycled aluminum with a high acoustic effect. The desks are adjustable in height and were designed by us and for us. By designing it ourselves we had control over the production process and were able to use the residual materials to make other furniture such as bookshelves. The catering concept focuses on reducing CO2 emissions, working with seasonal and local products as much as possible and reducing non-organic waste, such as plastic and disposables. The interior is sleek and futuristic, complementing the technology – which is carefully concealed from sight in the walls. A smart grid invisibly covers the whole building and the experience is designed to be natural and seamless. The building is easy to read thanks to an intuitive layout. The top section of every interior wall is transparent, providing sightlines throughout the office. These are useful for orientation as well as visually interesting. This combination of architecture and technology makes it easy to move through the building and enjoy a fluid working life. Employees use the many facilities in the building by means of the custom app. There is a fitness room with a sauna and steam cabins, a massage room and shared cars are offered to employees. On the top floor we find the company restaurant with the appearance of a real nightclub, where you can relax at the end of the day. In line with the philosophy underlying the concept that body and mind must be harmonized, with the aim of creating a flow state of mind where creativity can flourish.
