The new cineplex clearly defines the equilibrium between content and vessel, a dialogue from which this project has its foundation on light, materials, and astonishment.
The study of lighting was born from the project idea of using light, artificial and LED, as a switch between reality and fiction, to create an intense feeling from the very beginning; the goal is to create a space that transmits strong emotions even when the screen is still black and continue until the credits.
The corridor with low lights is designed to gradually introduce the visitor into space: starting from the bright octagonal entrance covered in black stone; a connection between the external world and the fantastic setting of movies. The vessel must entertain and engage with the visitors.
All five rooms have the same interior design and are designed to convey the same feelings despite being of different size.
The vessel wants to engage with the viewers by transporting them into a fantasy world. The strong reflections of the shiny black stones on the corridors’ walls have the intent to dematerialize the space when one enters and reassembles it on the way out, creating a quiet place of transition between the shopping center gallery and the movie theatre.
Light is the distinctive element of the entire project, and serves as a guide for visitors.
