Restraint in design involves the purposeful selection and omission of elements for balance and harmony. It prioritizes quality over quantity, allowing the design's essence to shine. Adding restraint brings calm and tranquility, fostering appreciation and contemplation. Zyeta implemented this concept in designing MUFG's Bengaluru workplace.

Design Intent
Our design intent for this workplace project is to craft a space that seamlessly blends the tranquility of a Zen garden with the functionality of a modern, activity-based work environment. We aim to provide members with a sense of continuity and personalization while fostering a connection to the community. To achieve this, we will incorporate a free-flowing workspace design inspired by the principles of Zen gardens. This design approach will create a fluid and open atmosphere, promoting creativity, focus, and a sense of calm.

Core Highlights
•Designed with the 4-fold Japanese design principle, merging the profoundness of exterior and interior environments.
•Activity-based neighborhood planning, to support business needs and hybrid modes of working.
•A ‘Business Garden’ serves as a communal area located between two wings while doubling up as a town hall space.

Workplace Experience
Step into the realm of MUFG, where restraint becomes an exquisite work of art. As you enter the reception area, a sense of serenity washes over you. The space exudes harmony, with a pristine green wall on one side and a perforated ceiling above, offering glimpses of a space meant to be cherished. Everywhere you look, you can feel the power of restraint as a design element.

Moving through the waiting lounge, the business garden, and the workspace, your eyes effortlessly transition from one space to another, free from visual clutter. Simplicity reigns supreme, allowing you to truly appreciate the delicate details inspired by nature. The wooden finishes, the shifting daylight that gracefully shifts the room, the touch of biophilia, and the reflective glass all contribute to the stillness and calmness that envelops you. As you wander through the work neighborhoods, a sense of togetherness envelopes you. Privacy pods, mobile video screens, acoustic dividers, and adaptable furniture systems grant you the power to shape your surroundings to suit your unique work style.

The inviting cafe space draws your attention further and the play of soft, warm lighting and subtle design elements create an ambiance that wraps around you like a comforting embrace.

Inspired by the Japanese principles of Kanso- Simplicity, Seijaku- Bring Stillness Inside, Shizen-Naturalness and Shibumi-Elegance, this space is imbued with a story, inviting you to explore and experience the workplace, where the beauty lies in the subtlety and the serenity invites contemplation.
