Came fully furnished in a standard Chinese luxury development fit-out, our goal was to transform the space to fit our client’s simple but high quality lifestyle with a current and timeless styling. Being on the ground floor of the tower, one of our challenges was to overcome the reliance artificial lighting, enhancing the sense of light and airiness by simplification to existing framework, careful curation of materiality, details, and soft furnishing, suitable for the family of 3 to enjoy for years to come. Major adjustments to AC ducts and pipework were proposed while considering the intricate concrete beam structure. This exercise of minimising ceiling depth allowed gains in floor to ceiling clearance, at the same time, inducing simplification and order to room volumes. Given Western up-brining of our clients, A key programmatic adjustment to the home includes the relocation and transformation of the traditional Chinese kitchen. From a small enclosed room close to the main entry, to a Western open-kitchen in the heart of the living area to provide our client's family and social habitat. The room by the entrance then fittingly becomes a walk-in wardrobe at a proximity sensible to usage habits Warm white and grey tones wash through the living spaces, while the full-height kitchen cabinets are intended to disappear into the backgrounds. The paint palette was selected to compliment the large blocks of Bianco Carrara kitchen island and balustrade bookending the living room.
