As a school of inquiry, innovation and impact, Mount Vernon’s story is a journey; one that started with pedagogical imperatives and drivers that are embedded in its’ character and genetics; one that informed the school to not look like a school – to be something exceptional, rather than expected and one that is built to empower future generations of learners, equipping them with the most relevant tools possible.

As a learning environment where spaces for learning and collaboration are blended and contiguous throughout, glass and movable walls replace much of what would have been traditional gypsum. This visual connection encourages curiosity and inquiry, supporting an entrepreneurial, creative spirit. Faculty and students now have the opportunity to see and flow seamlessly from neighborhood to neighborhood through many spaces that pique interest and foster connection.

In addition to its constituents on campus, MV’s new building serves the entire nation as a flagship building for innovative educational design. This parallels a goal to ensure that the new Upper School could be actively leveraged to move the needle in educational design. By hosting tours, training educators, and sharing pedagogical approach to the building, the school seeks to set a higher standard in educational environments.
