The apartment’s final design not only fulfilled the brief but also went beyond client expectations, resulting in a modern, minimal home that is simultaneously luxurious and comfortable. To achieve this, we opted for a timeless white/grey palette and materials such as high-quality marble, glass and stainless steel throughout the flat to give cohesive flow. False ceilings with light troughs lend an extra dimension to every room and subtly patterned wallpapers on feature walls and headboards in the bedrooms offer variations on a theme. Our clients wanted their home to echo its surroundings so we created an internal courtyard to bring the outdoors in and offer the family an additional relaxation area. The tree becomes a focal point of the open-planned living/dining room and, at night, special lighting replicates a starry sky to intensify the effect. The extensive use of glass around the courtyard makes the flat look brighter and more spacious, particularly the second guest bedroom, which did not have a window. Since the latter adjoins the courtyard, we inserted a floor-to-ceiling glass panel into the partition wall so the room benefits from natural light and a view of the tree.
