The Brief: The owning and investment team were looking to capture a new vibe, a new way of going out for the Mayfair socialites. A place that combined high end dining with late night partying. Looking at places such as Bagatelle in New York and Bauli in Miami as early reference, they wanted to explore what luxury high end dining and dancing could look and feel like. Ultimately, the brief was very simple: Give us somewhere people will be talking about in the morning, next year and in 10 years. No pressure then! The Challenges: We had every challenge. To list a few: - Four basements of four buildings, all at different heights and floor levels needing to be levelled, joined and sound proofed, without falling into Green Park tube line. - Sound proofing such a big space to such exacting requirements. - Working on a listed building and trying to both preserve the character yet make the space we had usable. - Making a basement work as a restaurant. - Finding the sweet spots between luxury and edge, and dining and partying! - Sweating every available inch of space for operational requirements, before even starting to make it gorgeous...
