Praxis Dr. Sell + Dr. Stocker This medical practice, which has been running since the late 60’s in the city of Nuremberg, needed a full renovation after their 2 founders decided to retire after many years at service, giving wings to the younger doctors, Dr. Sina Sell and Dr. Alex Stocker, to renovate and redesign this 180 s.m. flat located in a historical protected building from the XIX century.
"We don’t want to look or sound like a doctor’s practice,” says Markmus Design founder Marcos Aretio. For the Nuremberg-based interior studio, the main goal for this medical practice renovation was to deliver a colourful, cozy yet useful space where patients and employees would feel “at home”.
“We wanted a space full of nice and bright colours. Colours that might cheer you up in a winter day. We wanted a a space full of natural materials such as wood, natural fabric, leather and soft-touch surfaces such as linen or natural rubber. We wanted soft and acoustic surfaces that would make the space acoustically cozy and relaxing”, says Marcos Aretio.
The acoustic panels in all the rooms were designed and custom-made by Markmus Design, in order to combine an acoustic solution and lighting elements. These acoustic panels from the Dutch company ReFelt, are made out of recycled plastic bottles, which were then finished with some wall lamps from Spanish company Vibia.
In order to speed up some of the doctors duties, different custom made “blue-postboxes” were built-in inside the walls between the different rooms, in order to simplify the prescriptions signing or the exchange of documents between doctors and medical staff.
