“Small but Bulky and Fluffy feeling” Mealdo is a small bakery located in a corner of household-goods shop. When making interior design of it, we needed to overcome 2 limiting conditions. One is the extremely small size of the space, which may cause people feeling uncomfortable. The other was that the bakery is neighboring the shop many part and the harmony with it should be considered. We chose ‘white fluffy warm bread’ as the image of this boulangerie. Reversely to common idea to make most of the free space, we tried to relax people by embracing with bulky and fluffy feeling. We finished every corner and path with big rounded textured surface, just like big soft bread. Obviously it required long time and effort of several artisans. This is a contrast to general bakeries where straight lines of tables are overwhelming everywhere, however, emotional closeness would make the space roomier. Not to mention, we tried hard to utilize effectively unseen space. At the same time, we combined the various heights of the tables. It was intended to get rid of the monotony caused by the small space. This resulted that the scenes differ with the positions where you stand and gave us more ample images.
