Perched on the 60th floor of the first International Style building in Lower Manhattan, the restaurant Manhatta and event space Bay Room have been wildly in demand since opening this summer. While the main draw is undoubtedly the stunning 360-degree views, Manhatta is relaxed, neighborhood venue, not just a place for special occasions. The understated warmth of the design reflects this ease.
Manhatta’s 40-foot, black walnut bar is one of the longest in the city and, with a backdrop of Manhattan, creates a buzzy energy leading into the open kitchen and luminous wine wall. Beyond the kitchen is one of two serene dining areas, which feature warm woods and walnut tabletops, exposed stone, polished bronze ornamentation, and mid-century chairs. Muted and mature, Manhatta rejects glitzy gimmickry in favor of enduring materials in tones of honey, coffee, and deep aquamarine.
The adjacent Bay Room is a versatile space that can be divided according to the number of guests, up to 400 seated or 700 standing. The design was kept neutral, so each event can imprint the space with its own personality. Access to the 60th floor is through a dedicated ground-floor entry lobby for a seamless street-to-sky guest experience. The lobby is consistent in style with the restaurant and event space, with a blood red couch for a touch of drama.
