Pink Building If there’s one thing you can’t deny about the Maister headquarters, it’s that they’re anything but grey and dull. You could say Maister wanted it to be a little different. Honestly, they didn’t have a choice: how could a creative service unit that specializes in innovative total concepts get away with an office that’s plain as day? So if you hadn’t heard about Maister yet, here’s what they do: they fill the days with making new, beautiful and creative stuff. Maister’s core-business is creating multidisciplinary concepts including creative ideation, interiors & exteriors, landscaping, graphic design, campaigns, print & video and of course a pink building. It’s pretty much anything you can think of, as long as it’s fresh, new and thought through. The Pink Building is a creation without windows. The offices are totally isolated from the outside world. This is the solution to hide everything around the building (streets, cars, less beautiful buildings and a boring landscape…). If you enter the (slightly too) tiny door (148x73cm), you enter the Maister jungle. It’s their own habitat with jungle sounds. A part of the sounds is even recorded by people and friends of Maister who mimic wild animals. This 12-hours sound tape brings peace and occasionally put a smile on your face. Lightbulbs at the tiny door: - Blue light: you rang the bell. The tiny door is opening now. - Green light: please come in! - White beacon: is always blinking, also at night. It represents the never-ending creativity of Maister. The building is orientated North, so none of the computer screens ever catch direct sunlight. Though there is a lot of natural light coming in through the high windows and the open jungle. A lot of open spaces, a high sealing and a lot of colors make sure this is a pleasant working environment. Clients of Maister are welcomed into the living room with a fireplace and bar. This makes every meeting a fun, casual experience. Especially when it’s a lunch meeting and potential customers can cook their own meal together with the people of Maister. All windows can be opened in good weather and the meeting can take place on the sunny terrace or the court-yard jeu de boules. Rather than an office, Maister’s headquarters are a habitat. Built using non-expensive materials, it leaves room for generosity in other places. It’s about doing differently, opening yourself up to take another mindset — an adage that counts as much for the building as it does for the company.
