Maison Muse - A Concept Gallery for Films in Shanghai

Located in Shanghai and inspired by Carlo Scarpa, Eliasson, Kapoor, etc, Maison Muse is a Concept Gallery for Films divided into 4 distinct zones.

Zone 1: “Gallery Muse” is the Main Lobby consisting of the Box Office & Cafe. The space is dominated by stepped pyramid ceilings with artificial skylights and giant circular elements expressed as signage or abstract art pieces.

Zone 2: “Long Studio” is a corridor space for the Concession Bar. This area resembles a relaxed exhibition area within a gallery.

Zone 3: “Blue Lab” is an operatic aria in ultraviolet blue leading to the IMAX Cinema. “Lab” presents film as a form of technology which must be updated or else will become obsolete.

Zone 4: “Neon Loft” is an intense tunnel-like space dyed in fuchsia leading to most of the cinema houses. This area is inspired by the Avant Garde Cinema of the 80’s and filled with neon portals creating oblique reflections bouncing off high gloss surfaces.

The Skyfall Restroom is yet another innovation in mixing hygiene with nature and technology.

Steeped in history and meaning, Shanghai is the birthplace of Cinema in China making the city unique and irreplaceable. The design intent of Maison Muse is to create a venue not unlike any film culture museum, so the enjoyment of a movie could be similar to visit any art gallery allowing the movie industry players to promote cinema as an art form.
