The Children's Museum at Louvre Abu Dhabi is an exploratory space providing the opportunity to engage with artworks from the museum's collection for young visitors and their families. The Children’s Museum presents its own distinct exhibitions, with artworks displayed in cases at children's eye level. With a range of immersive and interactive zones, the Children's Museum invites children and adults alike to share in learning activities designed to nurture visual literacy. The inaugural exhibition ‘Travelling Shapes and Colours’ explores shapes and colours that have been travelling around the world from one culture to another for centuries. In the exhibition visitors can discover the stories behind the objects journey and encounter the many different artistic traditions that influenced the works. The first exhibition is designed to help children and families look. Each object is introduced by a question (an ice-breaker), requiring the children to investigate the artwork. Additional activities, such as mechanical hands-on, multimedia games and drawing help to further their knowledge. Surrounding walls of the space are used for large, theme based, animated projections, interactives, games and 3D puzzles. An 8 meter high wall, linking the exhibition to the workshop area is used to project works made by the children.
